INQVIRY ON THURSDAY

A Magisterial inquiry into the circumstances which led to the Union ■ Co. 's cargo steamer Kini being' damaged through striking a submerged-.object near Bare Island on the night of 10th' April when bound from Wellington to Napier, will open at the Magistrate's Court at 10.30. o'clock on Thursday morning. ' A preliminary . inquiry into the mishap .was held by the Marine' Department at Napier. . The Kini arrived at Wellington yesterday from Lyttelton, and was placed on the Patent Slip to bo examined and have any necessary repairs made. The examination showed that tho propeller has been badly damaged, but only slight injury was done to the plates of the hull. A new propeller will be fitted while the Kini is on the slip. Captain L. C. H. Worralland Mr. F. W. Barron will act as the'nautical assessors assisting the ■ Magistrate^
