'DAILY MAIL". STORY

LONDON, 20lh April. The "Daily Mail's" Ccuta correspondent says' that British residents who arc arriving from Tangier en route to seek the safety of Gibraltar declare that tho situation, in the international zone is very critical. They state thera has beea considerable rioting in the streets. The Spanish Bepublicans are trying to claim the area in the face of the international Administration, in -which Britain, France, and Spain are represented. The British Consul-Goneral in the Tangier zone, Mr. Hugh Gurney, is reported to have appealed, to the Foreign Office for; protection, as it is feared.that the unrest in the zone may incite Biff tribesmen to swarm over the frontiers. A Gibraltar correspondent says that a company, of the Lincolnshires is standing by ready to proceed to Tangier to protect the Consulate. :
