THE LADY CANDIDATES
A well-attended meeting. of ladies was held at Kelburn, at the home ■of Mrs. Sol Myers, to forward the candidature of Miss Amy Kane for,the City Council and Mrs. K. Preston, Mrs. M'Vicar, and Mrs. E. J. Moore for the Hospital Board. Miss Boyd, convener, -expressed the hope that the women, would work to see that women were returned to these offices. ..Miss liane said that economy- was the uot.e at present, and if electud she would use her hiiliience to sue. that rates were ..reduced while maintaining, the city's' services and the upkeep, of reserves and playgrounds, especially those in which women and children were interested. ■ •,..-■-■'•■■'.■ 'Mrs. Preston iind-Mrs. M'Vicar both gave interesting accounts of the work of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, showing how these-services had grown, and discussing the big problem which hud to be faced at present owing to unemployment.
