FURTHER CONFESSIONS
BEELIN, 18th ApriL - At the trial of Kuerten, at Dussel« dorf, a statement was read from Ms : wife, who said he was a kind husband. He had struck her only once. She knew nothing of, his crimes until he confessed two days before his ' arrest. Kuerten listened intently to '■ the reading of this statement. He joined in the laughter when. Piait Meurier gave evidence that she saw; ' him in Dusseldorf Park and thought:) : "What a nice. man. I will let him' ; walk with me, then I shan't be alona; ' in the dark."* ■ • Kuerten stabbed her and then dia» appeared. The thirteenth, charge against him concerned .Jhe murder of a servant girl whose head was smashed ia with a, hammer. Kuerten's confession corro* boi-ated the police evidence to the small- ■■ ost detail.
