HUTT VALLEY CLUB

The Hutt Valley Harrier Club's season was declared open by the president, Mr, Hadley, at Hutt Park, on Saturday afternoon. A field of 30 runners, under 'the direction of Mr. Vie. Smith, club captain, took part in a run of about five miles, beginning and ending at the Park. A run iv over a distance of 300 yards resulted: C. King, 1; C. Watt, 2; J. GilChrist, 3. The appearance of the runners ill the new club colours of tangerine singlet, with a badge showing a gold gate on a black diamond, and tangerine stripes on each side of black shorts, was very; favourably commented upon.' Runners and supporters were later entertained at afternoon tea by Mr. and Mrs. Hadley and Mr. and Mrs.. B. Lippett. Mr. V. Smith extended the club a thanks to these supporters for their hospitality, and Mi-. Hadley and Mr. Lippetfc suitably replied. N . \ .
