HARRIERS

BROOKLYN CLUB

The Brooklyn harriers held their official club opening run on Saturday from the Worser Bay Swimming Club pavilion. Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Moore and friends, Mrs. D. C. Todd, and Mr. P. N. Denton were present for the opening ceremony, making a total of some forty-five, including runners. In his address Mr. F. W. Moore made reference to individual honours won during the summer months'by the following members: A. Hepburn, the Kellerman Cup; and G. C. Prosser, winner of the Wellington Provincial Three-mile Championship, also runner-up in New Zealand Three-mile Championship. Mr. Moore then declared the season open, and some thirty-eight men started off on a threemile run. The course taken led up the Worser Bay road, through a plantation to the top of the Seatoun Heights, down into Miramar, up again to the summit, along to Overton road, down to sea level again, and home, via Karaka Bay road. A 220 yards scratch run-in for the club's Blue Ribbon resulted in a spectacular win for L. Ashton from Furlong, with J. M. Joseph third. On 2nd May the club will be the guests of the president and Mrs. Moore, and the run will commence at 2.45 p.m. from their residence, 124 a, Maida Vale road.
