"Big Bill" Thompson, who leaves office on Friday, when the new Mayor, Mr. Anton J. Cermak, will be sworn in, receives the following editorial comment from the Chicago "Tribune":—
"It is an unpleasant business to catch a skunk, but otjo does it.
"For Chicago, Thompson has meant filth, corruption, obscenity, idiocy, and bankruptcy. ''He has given the city an international reputation for moronic buffoonery, barbaric crime, triumphant hooliganism, unchecked- graft, and dejected citizenship. He has nearly ruined property, and lias completely destroyed pride of cify. "He has made Chicago a byword for tho collapse of the American civilisation."
