SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.
This morning a cyclone centre was locate:! near Stephens Island. During tho night, dull and misty weather had developed almost generally and dense fog tvas reported from East Cape, Nugget Point, and Chatham Island. Kaln has been faivly general with heavy falls . In places^ and was still widespread this morning. A southerly change has extended northwards to Cook Strait, where there were strong southeasterly winds this morning. North of Auckland westerlies prevail, but in other parts o f tho North Island winds Kcru still north-ea::l or north.
