SHARP RISE IN EGG PRICES
A sharp advance in tho price of eggs in Wellington has taken place this week. Last Thursday they were Is 9d wholesale.for first-grade, full-size eggs, but pullets' and medium eggs were considerably less. Yesterday 2s Id to 2s 2d was the wholesale rate; to-day it varies from 2s 2d to 2s 6d. With the retail price twopence per dozen higher, it will bo obvious llijit tho price of an egg is approaching threepence. Messrs. Harris Bros., Ltd., Christchurch, report that at their weokly sale of guaranteed new-laid eggs, held on Tuesday, prices realised were: lion eggs, first grade (2oz or over), Is 7dj second grade (un!der 2oz), Is 4d.
