Private advices received from London (as to the conditions of the market at the close of the London series, are as linder: — Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd. —"The auctions closed here to-day with a good tone, and buyers generally operating freely. As compared with values current at the opening of this series, the movements are: Greasy raeriuo, best, no change; greasy merino, average %d per Jb higher; fine Jialfbreds, / 50/56's, %d Jiigher; haifbreds, 48/50's, %d higher; 'fine crossbreds, 4G/4S's, %d higher; medium jerossbreds, 44/40's, %d higher; coarse ' ibrossbreds, 40/44's, Vid higher; low crossfrreds, 36/40's, %d higher; scoured crossftreds, %d to Id higher; scoured merinos, Id higher; slipe wools generally, %d to 3d higher." As compared with last wales, closing rates prices are higher 2d rto 2%d per lb for merino and crossbred lambs, greasy merino medium, greasy jinerino inferior, greasy crossbred, and 'coarse crossbred slipe. Prices are higher B%d to 3d per lb for scoured crossbred fetntl medium and fine crossbred slipe.' "Prices are higher 1M to 2d per lb for fereasy merino super and 3d to 4d per lb jfoigher for scoured merino." DISPOSALS OF WOOL. Messrs. As compared with closing rates SpE last series: Merino, greasy 2%d ; to 3d iigher, scoured 2%d to 3%d; halfbred, greasy, 2%d to 3d; crossbred, fine greasy 2]id to 2%d. medium and coarse greasy gd to 2%d, scoured 2%d to_ 3%d; good slipe, 2%d to 3d; average to inferior slipe, 2d to 2%d; lambs, greasy, Id to 2d; pieces arid bellies, 2%d to 3d—all higher. Offered 359,213 bales. The home trade bought 80,000 bales, the Continent 70,500, America 3000, carried forward 59,000, of which 65,500 were not offered. The total sold; |ivas 151,500 bales.
