NO TRACE OF RANGI

THIRD YACHT IN RACE

NON-ARRIVAL IN SYDNEY

(Received.lst April,'l.3o p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron Jidvises that it can find no trace of the Rangi. The South Head signal station advised cai-licr that a vessel carrying two masts and small lights entered the Heads early this morning. Called on ■to give her name, she failed to do so, and disappeared in the haze and drizzling rain. Visibility at the time was very bad. It was at first surmised that the arrival was the Rangi, but the vessel subsequently turned out to be a fish- , ing smack. , The weather in the past few days has been warm and settled, with slight land breezes, but has changed to stormy to-night, with a stiff nor'-easter. There is,a prospect of unsettled weather for tho holidays. The lightkecper at Port Jackson is of opinion that the Rangi has drifted northward, and probably is becalmed, lie'says there is no reason to worry. jhe Rangi, the New Zealand representative in tho Tasman yacht race, won on handicap by the Teddy (Norway), is a well-known Auckland B class yacht, with single mast, 42ft overall, owned * by Mr. Alan Leonard, of Remucra. She was built as a fishing boat by Bailey 1 and Lowe, and up till two years ago was owned by Mr. Percy Thode. A sisier ship to tho Rangi is the White Heather, now owned in "Wellington, which has made the trip to the Chatham Islands hndback. She has an auxiliary engine. Tho Rangi is navigated by Licut.Commander "VV. 0. Julcr, late of the Royal Australian Navy, who was a member of the crew of tho Oimara on her-recent trip from Australia. A member of the crew is Mr. D. Kirkcaldie, of AVellington. She sailed under the flag of the Akarana Yacht Club, Auckland.
