Mr. Chichester at"3 p.m. on Tuesday discharged twenty gallons of petrol and look oil from the Cascades and, after circling ihc island for half an hour, landed at Emily Bay at the southern end of the island, inside the reef. This morning, after refuelling and discharging his collapsible boat and heaviest tools and articles of clothing, he made a successful" getaway at 10.3 a.m., expecting to arrive at Lord Howe Island at 5.30 p.m.
