OLD DECORATIONS

MONKEYS IN BATHROOM

An extremely- novel decorative scheme, and one with a rather zoological flavour, is amusingly displayed in Mrs. Wooley-ITart 's new house in Prince's Gate, states a London writer. The decorations have been planned by the Marchesa Malacrido, and that apparently with special reference to her client's fondness for animals of all kinds. For the square entrance hall is paved with stone tiles, on each of which a different animal is etched in black, and a huge aquarium, full of real fish, has pride of place -along the grey mantelpiece. And ' with an admirable attention to detail, the fish in the hugo bowl havo been specially chosen to match the lemon tinted walls and the silver satin curtains and chair covers. Greyhounds worked in lino . copper makes a most .effective decoration for tho radiator on the staircase landing, and on the glass shelves of the.cocktail bar is a collection of china dogs, which stand out admirably against tho midnight blue background of tho walls. The bathroom boasts mural decorations, in tho form of bright blue monkeys, matching the bath itself, climbing black trees, and in the draw-, ing-room the lights aro encased in ostrich eggs, which have been coated with silver. All the furniture'in this room is coral pink and nattier blue, and seven mirror panels are: inlet in the black mantelpiece. To this tho cliniagl room, with its'pine.panelling and beautiful Queen. Anno furniture, presents an amazing contrast, and after the vcri-. table riot of modernity in tho jest of the house a very welcome one.
