GRAND NATIONAL
FIERCE DENUNCIATION
EQUINE DEFENCE LEAGUE
(.Received 31st March, 1 p.m.)
LONDON, 30th March.
Denouncing the Grand National as a mad gamble, a gross - violation of the law against cruelty to animals, and a national disgrace, the Equine Defence League has forwarded a letter to the National Hunt Committee urging tho abolition of the, Grand National Steeplechase. The letter declares that no animal can endure the ordeal and escape almost certain injury to body and mind. Mankind owes the horse . an enormous debt which ho repays by cowardly, diabolical' treatment like the scene at B'ocher's Brook. ;
