Not during the whole of the terms in oflico of the.Liberal and Conservative Parties, Mr. D. G. Sullivan (Labour, Avon) pointed out in the Houso of ltepresonlatives yesterday, had they rosortcd to the closure proposal now proposed by the Government. He iilso emphasised the fact that the political passions of tho war years and of the industrial disturbances of tho ensuing years had been survived without any suggestion being made by the Conservative Party, which was in ofiico at tho time, for tho muzzling of the people's 'representatives. '' What Conservative and Tory Prime Ministers did not find it necessary to do," ho addod, "a Liberal Prime Minister is propared to do to-day because he may encounter some difficulties in putting his legislation on the Statute Book."
