"It ia to be regretted that" there werti several demonstrations by players and spectators alike against members of th« , association,", stated the annual report of! the Wellington Soccer referees submitted to the annual meeting of the association! last evening.' Discussing the.1 statement,1 the (chairman, Mr. C. F. Ward, said h« was very disappointed with the attitud* of some,of those who had to face the de» I monstrations.' They merely reported th«l 'matter to the committee and resigned, i"I don't think that is quite cricket," continued Mr. Ward; "it is far better to fac«| the music and fight it out." . ~ Some difficulty was experienced during '. the season in getting members to at- ■ tend meetings. The report stated that the committee vraa rather disappointed with the attendance at the fortnightly; meetings, and in consequence they hadita . b« held monthly. _ The committee' felt that if the attendance did not show an1 improvement during the coming season' the Referees' Association would have to disband and ask the Wellington-Football | Association to take over its duties. Examination of referees was also, a matt ter that required serious attention/ -Th# chairman pointed out that although leo» . turee weru arranged, only a very few ol the younger players, usually not. mor« than four, put in an appearance." --" Ifc was on the younger players that. thVassociation would have to depend, and they should endeavour to learn from the experience of the older members who eav« ■ . the lectures. The committee, however was very-pleased with the number whd had passed their theory and oral test: lne balance-sheet, which showed a sat* isfactory credit, and the report -wet* adopted unanimously.
