SHEEP VALUES RISE
. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, 29th-March. The prolonged drought in Poverty Bay and East Coast, districts, which continued practically, all the. summer, has definitely broken at last, rain having fallen at very frequent intervals for tho past four days. To-day the weather has not shown any signs of letting up, and.rain fell almost continuously, some showers being of tropical violence. The rain has put fresh heart into tho farming, community, who were very heavy sufferers.. . The effect was very noticeable at the Matawhero saleyards on Friday last, when the best sale of the season was held, sheep values being practically doubled on those of a few. weeks ago.
Concern was felt over the state of the roads north and south of Gisborne, but service drivers report them passable this morning. . Rotorua and Napier cars arrived in Gisborne on time this afternoon.
