LOWER GRADES
HOSPITAL BEAT MIDLAND. The play-off between; Midland _ (South Wellington), winners' of the Junior B 1 grade . championship, and Hospital, winners of Junior B 2 grade, on the Hospital ground. resulted in n win for Hospital on the first innings. It is probable, however, that this will not bo regarded as the Junior B final, and that Midland and Hospital will be declared the winners of the respective divisions of the grade, owing to Midland ' finding it impossible to send a full team put to Poririia. Midland, in their first innings, scored 106, and Hospital replied with 233 (T. Trewick 23, H. Trewick 3S, Jeffreys 53, Ell 17, J. Trewick 19, Dr. Williams 35). Bowling for Midland, Gell took four for 50, and Whaler four for 59. Midland, second inningSjls2 for five wickets (Currie 83 not out. Whaler 29). For Forirua, Windley took three for 24 and Ell two for 35. '■ MERCANTILE LEAGUE V. JUNIORS. The match between , the Mercantile League representatives and the Cricket Association's juniors was concluded in very poor light and resulted in a draw. Mercantile League, first innings, 159; second innings, 99 (Dind 27, Brough 21, Meade 19). Juniors, first innings, 153 (Simpson 60, Algar 21, Smith 17, O'Connor 16). ' Second' innings, 44 for nine wickets. Bowling for the League in Junior's first innings, Morris took* five for 45, Brooks two for 25, and Foley two for 36. For [the Juniors, O'Connor took three for 14,, [and Ashenden two for 27.' "„ .' [ THIRD GRADE MATCH. In the third grade game, Hutt Valley y. Town, the Hutt Valley team won by an innings. '. . - • • COLLEGE v. COMBINED SCHOOLS. The Wellington College first eleven defeated the representatives of the combined secondary schools on the first innings. Wellington College, 253 (O'Loifghlin 79, Lamason 60, Sadler 31, Burnette 19). Combined, first innings,, 96 (Wilson 22): second innings;.. 74 for five wickets (Ell 33,1 Wrigley 32 not out). Bowling for College Sadler took three wickets for 5 runs, Bartlett three for 28, O'Loughlin two for 17 and two for 15. Forthe combined team Mallard took four for 88 and Ell three for 25.
