CONFLICT OF REPORTS
MELBOURNE, 27th March. The search for the Southern Cloud continues unabated. To-day the area covered by many aeroplanes extended from Goulburn, New South "Wales, right down to Wilson's Promontory. AirCommander Kingsford Smith covered j 550 miles this morning, but nothing was seen. Again this afternoon he made an-1 other long aud equally fruitless flight. The Deputy-Controller of Civil Aviation, in a statement, said: "I have come bo Hie conclusion, after inspecting the reports, that the occupants of the Southern C!oud are beyond ul! human aid." In view of the conflict of reports j from all parts of the country and the possibility of tlio missing persons still being alive in some inaccessible locality, i it is considered only right that the | search bo continued at least until all liojie lias been abandoned of finding | them alive.
