A MOTOR ACCIDENT
THE DIOMEDE'S VISIT
(From Our Own Correspondent.) NELSON, 26th March. Yesterday morning Dr. Gibbs left Nelson for Kaikoura, on his way to C'liristeliui-ch for the half-yearly meeting of the South Island Motor Union, of which he is a vice-president. At about 1 p.m., when about two miles past Olwiramio (20 wiles from Blenheim) tho car skidded in loose gravel at Jack's corner, or, as the doi-lor learned afterwards, at "Capsize Point," named so on account of the frequency -of accidents there. The driver steered the car back to the road, but it went to tho other side, hit a bank, and turned over. Mrs. Gibbs suffered an injured collarbone, in addition to bruises, and the other two occupants received a shaking up and bruises. The car, which was considerably damaged, was taken on to Blenheim for repairs. The occupants were brought back to Nelson, arriving at about 8 p.m. The Mayor, Mr. W. J. Moffatt, has intimated that he will again be a candidate for the Mayoralty at the May elections. The annual meeting of the Nelson Library Institute elected the following committee: —Mr. J. Fitz-Gerald (president), Mrs. Moncrieff (vice-president), Lieut.-Colonel Burton (hon. secretary), Miss Mills, Messrs. A. T. L. .Tones, F. G. Gibb?. J. Glasgow, and F. V. Knapp. .'Bstabliphrd in 1542, the institute is probably the oldest established existing body in the Dominion. On Tuesday morning next the crew of H.M.S. Diomede will parade in tho city, a march past being held at the church steps, where Commodore Blake will take the salute. The Mayor, Mr. W. J. Moffatt, and Commodore Blake exchanged official visits this morning.
