MIRAMAR BAND OF HOPE

The Miramar United Band of Hope commenced its 1931 season on Tuesday last in the Miramar Town Hall with an overflowing attendance of young people. The Rev. H. W. Hitchcock (president) conducted the opening exercises, aud Mrs. Millar (secretary) was at the piano. The subject for the evening was a talk on "The Wonders of Maoriland," given by the secretary of the union, illustrated by a series of magnificent views of river, lake, and mountain gems, the glaciers, the thermal regions, the Westland Sounds, and the Waitomo Caves. The talk concluded with the recitation of Kipling's "Song of the Children." An attractive progiamme has been drawn up for the season.
