LIVERPOOL SPRING CUP

United ■ I'ress Association—B.v Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received 27th March, 8.44 a.m.) LONDON, 26th March. On the first day of tho Liverpool Spring Meeting, held at Aintrcc, the following was tho result of tho LIVERPOOL SPEING CUP, a handicap plate of 1000 soys (50 soys in plate or specie, at option of owner); second 100 soys, third 50 soys; one mile two furlongs and 170 yards. J. D. Eobertsoivs eh g Promptitude, Decision—La Tigra, Vyrs, 7.11 . 1 W. M. C'azalct's blk h Moyresquc, Galloper Light—Moyria, syrs, 8.12 2 Major J. S. Courtauld's-ch h Osiris, Papyrus—Most Beautiful, syrs, 9.0 3 Fifteen horses started. Won by three lengths, a length and a half between second and third. Promptitude) who won the Liverpool Spring Cup yesterday, was, like Knight Error, who scored in the Lincolnshire Handicap on Wednesday, little mentioned in carJy discussions on the race, so that he would probably have starred at remunerative odds. Ho was one of the handicap horses who were in forward form, at tho close of tho flat-racing season, and he evidently was kept in work through the winter with a view to early spring engagements. In the last three big handicaps of last season, the Liverpool Autumn Cup (■'same distance as Spring Cup), Derby Cup (1J miles), and Manchester November Handicap (1$ miles), all in November, he raced well, being fifth in the first-named event (won by J Hot Bun), third in the Derby Cup (won by Notice Board), and twelfth, after being prominent to the straight, in the November Handicap (won by Glorious Devon). The previous season he had j won tho November Handicap, and had ] been fifth in the Liverpool Autumn^ Cup, not running in the Derby Cup. He contested last year's Spring Cup, but was unplaced. The sire of Promptitude, Decision, by Count Schomberg, had only a, short season at the stud, dying in 1926, and the only offspring of account remaining appear to be Promptitude and Just So.
