DEWAR SHIELD SPORTS
END OF ATHLETIC SEASON.
Splendid talent will bo on hand at Athletic Park to-morrow afternoon, when :i Dcwar Shield sports meeting will be held by the Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre. It will be the! final gathering of the year, and should close the season fittingly. Cycling, running, and field events—all branches of the sport have been catered for —are on the programme, and as those which count points for the shield are scratch teams' contests, there should be some very entertaining competition. Among those who will be. seen in action will be G. Baync, Now Zealand onc-milo champion, who defeated tho American, Rufus Kiser, in some'sensational races over his favourite distance; C. 1-1. Jenkins,1 ■Wellington sprint champion and New Zealand 'J2O yards champion; J. T. Fleming, N. Ball, aud W. Ogg, and other well-known athletes. Tho cyclists will include, T. Roe, the Pet one boy, who is recognised as the "find" of the season, P. N .Robinson, C. Ericsson, L. Labour,, and V. Christenscn. The Indies, including Miss T. KciK'h. jNow Zealand 100 yards champion, will be out in force, and in the Held events there will be P. .M.uiiro and Ihe spec la filial- IN'ew Zealand hi;:h .junio champion, Il'- Hrady. i Club teams competing for the Dewar Shield will be. Welliujrlon. Athletic, IVlone, and Kiwi. The Olympic Club has not ciilcvi'd a team. Tht; programme is lengthy and well varied, and the Mrs levent is to start at 2.13 p.m.
