HEAVY LOSS TO BOARD

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIHI, This Day. The Auckland Education Board sustained a heavy loss at an early hour this morning when tho whole of tho Waihi District High School (except one do-, tached building, valued at approximately £5000, was destroyed by lire. The cause is not known. In addition to the loss lo the board most of the books and records, together with school-bags and contents belonging to children, were. lost. As two other public schools in tho town have vacant forms, and the Technical School and other suitable buildings are available, no great difficulty will bo experienced in carrying on tho education of the young people ponding t;lie erection of a new school. About 400 children, including ICO High School pupils, arc temporarily affected. The original portion of the school was built some forty years ago.
