Mi*. Thomas Johnston, Parliamentary Under-Seeretary for Scotland, has been appointed Lord Privy Seal in. succession to the late Mr. Vernon Hartshorn. Mr. Johnston Arst entered tho House of Commons nine years ago as a Labour member for West Stirling.
