ARCTIC SUBMARINE
EXPLORER SCEPTICAL
MOST HAZARDOUS TASK
NEW YORK, 24th March.
According to a message from Lowell, Massachusetts, Commander D. B. MacMillan, tlio noted Arctic explorer, who says that he expects soon to entertain Sir Hubert Wilkins at his homo nt: Cape Cod, hns termed the contemplated Nautilus expedition the most hazardous task ever attempted by an Arctic explorer.
He characterised the trip as virtually impossible, and says that he feels that the submarine could reach the North Pole only by chance, because of lack of navigation points while submerged. He expressed the belief that the vessel, if caught in the ice, would have no chance of escape.
