UNSETTLED WEATHER
IMPROVEMENT EXPECTED
Although yesterday was mainly fair to cloudy in eastern districts, the weather elsewhere was unsettled, and more generally so last night. Light rain has fallen in most districts, and a change to southerly winds has caused a drop in temperatures. Barometers, however, are rising again with the departure eastward of yesterday's depression. A slight cyclone crossed the northern part of New Zealand last night, and is now centred east of Cape Maria. It has caused fairly general rain in the Auckland province. Auckland had dull and showery weather yesterday, and a steady drizzle fell last night, 'in Wellington yesterday the weather was dull, but fair, with a moderate northerly wind. A cloudy morning in Christehurch was followed by a fine and sunny afternoon, whilst in Dunedin the whole day was fine and sunny. To-day's forecast is for moderate to strong southerly winds, which, in places will reach gale force. Although fine on the West Coast of the South Island, the weather as a whole will continue to bo cold, changeable, and showery, but an improvement should shortly "be in evidence. ____^^______
