INGENIOUS SCHEME

SHARE IN SWEEPSTAKES

(Received 20th March, 2 p.m.)

LONDON, 23th .March

The unique scheme of a syndicate of London business men is revealed in connection with the Irish sweepstakes. It reads like the best betting system devised. Briefly, the syndicate plans to purchase' a half-share in each runner, thereby assuring a half-share in the three main prizes, totalling £600,000, and half the remaining runners, totalling over £40,000. It will thus receive £340,000, from which will be deducted tlic amounts paid to the various holders. The syndicate estimates its profit at £125,000. In the event of inability to purchase a share in all tickets, it will back the horses concerned to win proportionate amounts. Tf it should have to back a larger number, it expects that this may reduce the profit to £60,000, but in any event it is bound to win. The syndicate has already cabled every holder, and 40 per cent, haye accepted.
