It is officially announced that the total receipts of the Grand National Sweepstake are £1,755,963. The prize money will be £1,181,815, including the first prize £354,544, second £177,272, and third £118,181. The preliminary proceedings in the gigantic Irish sweepstake on the Grand National produced a remarkable scene at the Dublin Mansion' House, whore 300 girls were employed at seven long trestle tables throughout tho <l;iy mixing 3,570,000 counterfoils of 10s" tickets. Following this thorough mixing, the counterfoils were placed in, ;i great steel drum ready for tho draw on Tuesday. Armed police live guarding the drum day and night until the drawing.
