WEDDINGS
A wedding of New Zealand interest took place on 11th February at Holy Trinity, Brompton, writes "The Post's" correspondent. The bride was Miss Eona Winifred Bower, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Bower, and granddaughter of the late Colonel and Mrs. Newall (formerly well-known residents of Wellington). The bridegroom was Mr. Richard.Beesly, second son of Mr. Gerald Beesly,'of .Seacroft, Mil-ford-on-Sea, Hampshire. The church was beautifully decorated with choice white flowers, pink azaleas, and tall palms, with Harissi lilies on the altar. The service—a choral one—was conducted by the Bey. Prebendary A. W. Gough and the Bey. N. M. Aldous. The bridegroom is a well-known Cambridge Blue. He had rowed for three successive years in the Cambridge boat, and last year lie was president of the C.U.B. Club. Mr. Bower escorted his daughter, who wore a beautiful and gracefully made dross of pearl pink satin, with a bridal veil of tulle held in place by a simple wreath of orange blossom. Her bouquet was of white freesia, lily-of-the-valley, and pink carnations. The bridal retinue consisted of four grown-up bridesmaids and two small children. The latter were Miss Jean Bower (cousin of the bride and daughter of Mr. G. A. H. Bower) and Master Patrick Webb (son of Colonel Webb, of Awbridge, Hampshire). The little girl was in rose petal pink and the little boy in parchment satin. The bridesmaids.were Miss Mary G. Daniel (cousin of the bride), Miss Tara Newall (daughter of Mr. Stewart Newall), and the Misses Marian and Vivian Beesly (sisters of the bridegroom). They wore charming dresses of rose petal pink georgette, with velvet coatees and berets of the same delicate tint, and they carried bouquets of white daffodils, froesias, and pink carnations. Mr. Michael Brown, of Lyttcl Hall, Nuthill, was best man. Mr. and Mrs. Bower entertained their guests at a reception at the Hotel Rembrandt. Among the guests present were the following New Zoalandcrs: —Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Newall, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Daniel (nee Nena Newall), Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Bowden Smith (nee Daisy Logan), Mr. D. K. Picken, Miss C. C. Campboll, Miss Threlkeld, Mr. Brian Vogel, Miss Peggy Felton (granddaughter of Mrs. Henry Reynolds, formerly of the Waikato). The bride and bridegroom were the recipients of many presents, including a set of decanters from the First Trinity rowing friends. The bridegroom gave the bride a diamond, emerald, and platinum brooch, and the bride's gift to the bridegroom was a set of .gold and enamel cuff links. The day following the marriage the young couple left for South America, Mr. Beesly having been appointed by his firm (Messrs. Guest, Keen, and Nettlefolds, of Birmingham) to represent them at the exhibition in Buenos Aires.
