SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS. The vigorous depression of. yesterday has passed away eastwards, and with; thei.rlse in barometers the winds bajjted.to southerlles/during last night 'in many, places.; Owing, however, to the slow movement of- an anti-cyclone to the north-east of the Dominion the southerlies proved of much less force than the northerlie3 which preceded them, and by 9 a.m. today winds had become light or moderate, and the directions somewhat variable. Squally, unsettled conditions prevailed during Monday, and rain fell In moat districts, with heavy fall 3 at some places.'
