WAGES REDUCTION
OPPOSITION OF LABOUR
A POLICY \PLEDGE
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHBISTCHUECH, This Day. The Government's proposals for a reduction in wages were severely criticised at a mass demonstration held, at Christchurch yesterday. A procession carrying banners inarched from the railway, station to Latimer square, where a crowd of ov two thousand people heard addresses, by the chairman (Mr, Morgan Williams), Mr. Cook, president ;of the Allir nnce of Labour, and Mr.. Eo'oerta, secretary of the Alliance. The meeting unanimously passed the following resolution: "That the proposed wages reduction, as put forward by the Prime Minister is unjust, and we pledge ourselves to do all in our power to prevent it coming into operation. We further "pledge ourselves fully to carry out the policy that,will be laid down by the National Industrial Committee in the event of Parliament passing tho proposed legislation." '
