OVER SIX MILLION
UNEMPLOYED IN U.S.A.;
CONGRESS CONCERNED
WASHINGTON, 21st March. A demand that President Hoover should call a special session of Congress to deal with unemployment as a result of a Department of Commerce announcement that 6,050,000 persons were unemployed in Jai^iary was made by Senator Borah to-day. The so-called "Progressive Senators"-, of both parties supported Senator Bor-. ah, claiming that the figures indicated' that 20,000,000 persons, comprising the families of those unemployed, Trera suffering from tlJ£ situation. The progressive group asserts that "to wait until Congress is convened for the regular sitting next December; will be too late to avert the worst disaster in our history."
