The National Airways' monoplane Southern Cloud, piloted by Captain Shortridge, and carrying six passengers, which left Sydney yesterday afternoon, did not arrive in Melbourne. Storms on Friday night dislocated telegraphic communication, and FlightLieutenant C. 3?. Ulm, a director of National Airways, presumes that Captain Shor,tridge made a forced landing. The air-liner had not reported this morning, and it is understood that she met heavy weather on the early part of the trip from Sydney. At 11.15 p.m. no news of the missing 'plane had been received in Sydney. If was' last reported over Wangaratta, Victoria, just over'the border. ..Five 'planes are now searching, and if it is not reported by 4.30 o'clock to-morrow morning, Air-Commodore Kingsford Smith and Flight-Lieutenant Ulm will leave in separate 'planes to join in the search.
