TALLOW AND HEMP
The Department of Agriculture has received the .following cablegram, dated 21st March, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow.—Quiet demand at auction; 1013 casks offered and 208 sold. Present quotations for spot are: Mutton, fine 245, fair to good -21s to 235, > dark to dull 19s 6d to 20s; beef,-sweet and/or mixed, 23s to 245, fair to good'2ls to 235, dark to dull 18s to 19s 6d;' mixed, fair.to good 21s to'22s 6d, dark to dull, 18s to■ 19s 6d; gut,, etc., 16s to 19s. Hemp.—Manila market weak" on large receipts, but on account of renewed inquiry market became firmer at the close. "X" grade March-May shipment sold at £18 5sV "Sisal: Market steady, with, no material .change in values. New Zealand' No interest shown and quotations nominally unchanged. -No first-hand sales re-1 ported. ' I
