DEMAND FOR SCHOOLS
TWO GRANTS APPROVED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, 20th March. 1 Concern at the delay in getting the approval of the Government for restoring school, buildings damaged in the earthquake was expressed by members of. the Hawkes Bay Education Board this morning, and it was resolved that the board express regret and perturbation at the delay in obtaining the authority of the Government to proceed with the. erection of school accommodation to replace that destroyed, and. also the provision of heating systems in the schools. It was also resolved that tho Government must recognise that the re-estab-lishment of educational facilities in. the devastated area was of the most urgent and paramount importance, and the board requested an immediate reply to tho chairman's telegram to tho Minister of Education. Advico has since been received from tho Minister that Cabinet has approved of grants for the erectiou of six-roomed schools in wood at tho Napier Central and Napier West sites.
