TRANSPORT REGULATIONS

DISALLOWANCE FLOUTED

(Received 21st March, 11 a.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. The. Senate by 20 voted to 7 disallowed the regulations under the Transport. Workers' Act giving preference of employment tn the Au.Mr.-ili.lii Watersiders' Federation members. Immediately after the Senate adjourned the JOxccutivc Council met and approved now regulations similar <o Ihoso just quashed, aud later the Gazptlo announced that the fresh regulations would be operable forthwith. The Senate was thus flouted, but has the opportunity again of expressing its disapproval, as Ihc regulations must come before it within thirty days. Senator l'enrce, in moving the disallowance, challenged the Government to seek a double dissolution which, h» said, it had several times hinted was desired.
