FAIR WEATHER
BUT SHOWERS LATER
An auli-cyclonc still covers New Zealand, tut since last night its centre has moved further northwards and a slight low pressure wave- has been crossing the southern portion of the South Island. As a result northerly winds havo become general and have freshened somewhat in and south of Cook Strait. This morning the weather was still fair to fine over most of the Dominion, but there was more cloud than yesterday in the western districts south from Taranaki, and at 0 a.m. a few- slight showers were falling about Foveaux Strait. Each of the chief stations experienced a fine pleasant day yesterday, with plenty of sunshine and very little wind. . ■ . ~ The forecast is for freshening northerly winds, rising to gale force at times in and south of Cook Strait. _ The weather for the most part will lie still fair, with rising temperatures and cloudiness, increasing further in western districts mi.l showers gradually developing.
