The centre of tlio anti-cyclone which has licou covering New Zealand is now passing In tlio north and, since last nieht,_ a slight wave of low pressure has been crossing the south* urn portion of the .South Island. Tho winds have consequently become northerly nearly everywhere, and have freshened somewhat in and south of Cook Strait. At 9 a.m. to-day Ihero was considerable, cloud in western districts from Taranaki southwards, and a few showers were reported about Foveaux Strait, but otherwise fair to fine weather has continued to prevail.
