NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that ■^ there will be submitted for confirmation at the ordinary meeting of the Petone Borough Council to be held at tho Council Chambers, Petone, on Monday, the 30th March, 1931, at 7.30 p.m., the following resolution which was passed at k special meeting of the Petone Borough Council held on Monday, Kith. March:— (1) "That a special loan of £3500 (to be called the Petone Borolrgh Council Unemployment Loan, 1931), be raised by the Petone Borough Council for the purpose of the purchase of all mains, machinery, plant, and material required for the extension of the borough water supply to the Koro Korq Special Rating Area and the acquisition of sites for reservoirs. (2) That the term of the said special loan be a term not exceeding thirtysix and a half years. I (3) That the rate of interest on such j special loan to be such rate as may! be prescribed not exceeding Six pounds (£6) per centum per annum. J (4) That a sinking fund of not less than One pound (£1) per centum per annum to be established in con-i nection with such special loan. (5) That the security for payment of interest and sinking .fund and for I the repayment of such special loan be a special annually recurring rate I upon all rateable property within the I Borough of Petone on tho basis of unimproved value, such special rate to be calculated so as to yield, if necessary, Ten pounds (£10) per centum per annum more than tho annual or other charges in respect of such special loan." He was -for many years a member of the Upper Hutt School Committee, holding the positions of Chairman and Secretary, and assisting in procuring the present site and School for Upper Hutt and Trentham, and also the present Dental Clinic at Upper Hutt. He takes a keen interest in sport,_ and was at one time secretary to the Upper Hutt Cricket Club, of which he was also an active member, he has been a member of every Town Board and Council since 1913, and was Chairman of the Town Board for four consecutive years. While holding the position of Chairman of the Town Board, the following important matters were dealt with by his Board:— The leasing of the Gasworks site for the purpose of establishing a pipe work in the Borough, which works are now run by the Hume Pipe Co. and provide work for a number of residents in the district; the formation of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board: the inclusion oi the Upper Hutt Town 'District in the scheme for bitumenising the Main Hutt road between Upper Hutt anil Wellington, and the formation of tlie Upper Hutt Municipal .Band. Mr. Greig is at present Deputy Mayor, Chairman of the Public Service Committee of the Council, Borough Representative on the Free Ambulance Board, and a live and sympathetic member of the Unemployment Relief Committee.
