OBJECTION TO SUB-STATION
Tho proposal of tho Hutt Valley Electric Power Board to build a sub-sta-tion in the access way between Puriri street and Ma ire avenue, Lower Hut.t, ia objected to by certain residents, ami a deputation on the subject is to wait upon the Lower Hutt Borough Council meeting next Monday night. A request from the council for the attendance of a Power Board officer was received, at the meeting of the board yesterday. The engineer-general manager (Mr. E. i:\ Hollands) wid that the right-of-way was tho property of the Government, but the council had agreed to the erection of tho sub-station, and the borough engineer was of opinion that the kiosk typo which was to bo erected was an 'ideal one. The sub-station would occupy sft Sin of the 13ft right-of-way. Mr. Hollands said that tho objectors probably thought there would be noisy machinery in it, but ho thought he could convince'them that this would not be. It was left to Mr. Hollands to attend the deputation.
