Wind.—Velocity of the wind for the 24 hours preceding 9 a.m. to-day, 4.3 m.p.h. Barometer. —Yesterday, 9 a.m., SO.llln; today, 9 a.m., 30.36 in. SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS. A few isolated light showers fell yesterday or last night in the far North and South along the east coast, but the weather has been mostly fair, and has gradually improved. By 9 a.m. to-day it was fine almost generally, and the southerlies had given place to light and variable winds. Temperatures have been cold and at some places frosts occurred last night, as much as 10 degrees being registered at Alexandra, In Central Otago. An anti-cyclone now covers the whole of the New Zealand area and the greater part of the Tasman Sea.
