EXIT DANGERS
A CITY PICTURE HOUSE
Some weeks ago the question of inadequate exits from picture houses and other places of entertainment in the city was mentioned and an instruction was given that the City Engineer should bring down a report upon the matter. Last evening Councillor F. Meadowcroft raised the point again and asked what steps had now been taken to protect the public. He mentioned one theatre in particular as being dangerous from tho point of view of exits, and said that1 his family at any it/j would not visit that building on account of the dangerous nature of the exits, which slowed down the emptying of the theatre. Councillor M. F. Luckie, chairman of the Bylaws Committee, replied that the matter was receiving tho attention of the City Engineer, but the question of theatre exits would require considerable time- for tho full and careful examination which must be given. In the meo, ntime, he understood, tho position at. the. particular theatre mentioned by Councillor Meadow-croft had been improved by making available an additional nxit, enabling tlin building to bo emptied moro rapidly.
