AN AUTUMN DAY
SOME FROST LAST NIGHT
An anti-cyclone now covers the greater part of the Tasmau Sea and tho whole of the New Zealand area. - Although yesterday's weather was mostly fair, a cold fresh southerly lowered temperatures. A few light and isolated showers were reported from northern and southern extremities and from along the East Coast. Conditions, however, have been improving gradually, and this morning's weather was fine over the greater part of tho Dominion, winds having become light and variable. A number of frosts were recorded last night, the severest being one of ten degrees at Alexandra, in . Central Otago. The minimum grass temperature in Wellington was 34.9 degrees. Auckland's weather yesterday was fair to cloudy, and some light rain fell at night. In Wellington it was fine, but the southerly was keen and the night cold. It was a cool and sunny day in Christehurch, with a fresh southwest wind. There was a touch of frost. lat night. In Dunedin it was fine, especially in the afternoon, the wind being | from the south-west. j Fine weather generally is predicted, with rising temperatures. Light to moderate and variable winds will gradually tend to the north later.
