SUNDAY ENTERTAINMENTS
MR. "CLYNES'S ANNOUNCEMENT
(British Official Wlrelesi.) BT7GBY, 26th February. The Home Secretary, Mr. J. E. Clynes, annonneed that in order to give the House of Commons an early opportunity of pronouncing on the question of Sunday entertainments, the Government would introduce a Bill at an early date. ■ i The Bill will b.e required to amend the Lord's Day Observance Act of 1781, under which , the Sunday opening of cinemas was recently held by the High Court to be illegal. It is' expected that the new Bill will give the right to local authorities to decide the kind of Sunday entertainments to be permitted. It is understood that the Bill will be left to the "free vote" of the House.
