SOLDIERS' BONUS BILL LAW

United Tress Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received 23th February, 11 a.m.)' WASHINGTON, 271h February. The Senate passed the Soldiers' Bonus Bill (Veterans' Loan Relief Bill)* which now automatically becomes law. The House of Representatives had previously passed the Bill again over the President's veto. Congressman J. Q. Tilaon attempt-' ed to ask the members to support Mr. Hoover, but was virtually howled down. The Speaker's announcement: "The Bill is carried, the President's disapproval notwithstanding," was greeted with wild cheering. The Bill promptly was then rushed to the Senate for consideration.

The Senate, despite President Hoover's opposition, on 18th February passed by 72 votes to 12 the Veterans' Loan Belief Bill, which will adjust compensation certificates from 22£ to 50 per cent, on their face value. The Bill already has been passed by the House. The estimated cost is 700,000,----000 dollars.
