AMERICANS IN ACTION;
The first of the two visiting American* to be seen in serious action is Joey Thomas, who is to meet Archie; Hughes at the Boxing Stadium on Monday night. Hughes has not previously 'been seen in the >ring in Wellington, , although-. «Qm'« three years ago he lost a;.very close decision to lieckie, then at the very top of his form. Since then the Australian hax considerably improved, until at • present he is undoubtedly one of the best featherweights in Australia' to-day. Against Hughes in Auckland Blay by_ uo ■ means, had matters all his own way; in -fact, one report suggested that a draw would have been the correct verdict. On. that form Hughes roust be■ considered as likely;to keep Thomas up to the mark all the tilne. Whitlow is due to make his appearance opposed to Donovan on 12th. March, and already keen. interest is being, taken in this fixture. Holders of. reserved seat tickets for Monday night should -note that they will be entitled to preferential booking for the Donovan-Whitlow .and following contests promoted by the association. ;
