UNUSUAL AILMENTS
WHITE FANG AND LINEAGE
Were racing not so markedly free from laiut in the Dominion, the gravest suspicion would attach to the ailments that caused the scratching oE White Fang and Lineage for the Kuahine Handicap, the «pen sprint at Woodville on Wednesday. Both horses were quite well when out- on : the track early in the morning, but before the race they were very sick. Whatever the trouble was, it developed Suddenly, and appears to have been identical in both cases. Neither trainer was able to diagnose the sickness, which was itnusualin its symptoms and also in its after-effects. Both horses were in the pink of condition when taken to Woodville, and both were expected to race well. Lineage was not galloped in the morning, but she exercised as freely as usual. White Fang was sprinted, registering figures •qual to the best of the morning.
