FAIRLY VIOLENT SHOCK
SLEEPERS AWAKENED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) *> NAPIER, This Day. ■ The weather is fine, (he wind is a light nor'-wester, and the sea is smooth. The rivers are normal. At 2 a.m. there was a, fairly violent shock, probably the tUird heaviest since tho opening attack. It woke everybody. During the next hour it was followed by three others, the severity of each boiug less than tho one proceding it. Minor tremors were frequent, but have now ceased. _ Peoplo seem to have got their earthquake legs, and even heavy shakes are failing to causo excitement. A largo meeting at Nelson Park last night protested against the charge of 4s per day for food inflicted by the Relief Committee, but as that body is going into retirement, the agitation, which had been somewhat pronounced in the last few days, will die down. It is suggested that all -outsiders not usefully engaged should be sent from the town. A large number was duo to leave to-day.
