SIR MALCOLM CAMPBELL

TRIBUTE TO BRITISH ENGINEERS

(British Official Wireless.) (Received 21st February, 2 p.m.). BUGBY, 20th February. Captain Sir Malcolm Campbell had a rousing reception from large crowds on his arrival in London to-day. In Westminster Hall he was welcomed officially, by the Minister of Transport, Mr. Herbert Morrison, and Mr. G. M. Gillett, Secretary of the Department of Overseas Trade. : Mr. Morrison said that Sir Malcolm Campbell's record was an invaluable tribute to the efficiency of British engineering.

Sir-Malcolm'replied that he was proud if hia endeavour had helped, to cement the friendship between the United States and Britain and to uphold British traditions. Later, at a reception a.t the Eoyal Automobile Club, Sir. Malcolm said that his success was due to the excellence of British workmanship in his car throughout, and to tho assistance rendered by tho British motor industry, and he paid a tribute to the spirit of sportsmanship ho had met with in America ' To-morrow he goes to Buckingham Palace to receive the Knighthood which the King has conferred upon him.
